Xtremepush Cart Abandonment

Set up Xtremepush for Adaptive Cart Abandonment in TickX IQ to trigger automated emails based on booking behavior.

How to set-up your Xtremepush Cart Abandonment so you can trigger emails to your drop-offs. You can learn more about TickX Cart Abandonment here.

Xtremepush Settings:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → API Integration. You need an admin role on the Xtremepush project.
  2. Select Add Client ID and give it a name, for example tickx-cart-abandon.
  3. Set Type to Secret. Leave Expires At empty, or note the date: sends stop when the Client ID expires.
  4. Select Save, then copy the Client Secret straight away. Xtremepush only shows it once. If you lose it you'll need to create a new Client ID.
  5. Select Set Scopes on the new Client ID and make sure Campaign Operations → Execute is ticked. All scopes are ticked by default; TickX only needs this one, so you can untick the rest.

The Client ID shows in the list on the same page. Note which region your project is in (EU or US): it's set when the project is created, and IQ needs to match it.

Create a Campaign:

  1. Create a new campaign and choose API-triggered, single-stage, with Email as the channel. Only use multi-stage if you want a sequence, for example an email at 1 hour then a push at 24 hours.
  2. On the Content step, set the from name, from address and reply-to as normal. In Subject, enter to use the subject line you set in TickX IQ, or type your own.
  3. Build the email body, adding the custom variables listed below wherever you need them.
  4. On the Segment step, leave it as all addressable users. TickX names the recipient on every send. You can add an email opt-in condition as a safety filter.
  5. Launch the campaign so it's Live. TickX can't trigger a campaign that isn't live.
  6. Copy the Campaign ID from Campaigns → Existing Campaigns → Live. The config needs the number only.

Note: One campaign is one email. Each different email you want, such as a second reminder in a chain, needs its own campaign and Campaign ID.

Note: A customer who isn't in Xtremepush yet gets a new profile created on their first cart abandon send.

Custom variables

These are the variables a cart abandon send supplies. Anything outside this list will come through empty.

  • {{ SUBJECT }}
  • {{ FNAME }}
  • {{ LNAME }}
  • {{ PREHEAD }}
  • {{ MC_PREVIEW_TEXT }}
  • {{ BOOKING_DATE }}
  • {{ BOOKING_NAME }}
  • {{ BOOKING_VENUE }}
  • {{ TICKET_TYPES }}
  • {{ FLOW_URL }}
  • {{ TICKX_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL }}
  • {{ ORDER_SUMMARY | raw }}
  • {{ ORDER_SUMMARY_RAW | raw }}
  • {{ TICKX_TRACK_PIXEL | raw }}

{{ MC_PREVIEW_TEXT }} carries the same value as {{ PREHEAD }}, so use one or the other.

{{ FLOW_URL }} and {{ TICKX_UNSUBSCRIBE_URL }} are links and must go in an href.

ORDER_SUMMARY, ORDER_SUMMARY_RAW and TICKX_TRACK_PIXEL arrive as HTML markup, so they need | raw or Xtremepush shows the code as text.

Note: Variables use Twig, the {{ NAME }} format. Names are case-sensitive and must match the list above exactly. Keep {{ TICKX_TRACK_PIXEL | raw }} in every email, or TickX IQ can't report opens.

Connect to TickX IQ:

  1. In TickX IQ, go to Marketing → Cart Abandonment → Integration Settings and choose Xtremepush.
  2. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret from the Settings steps, choose your Region (EU or US), then save.
  3. Go to My Emails and select Add New Email.
  4. Add your email name. As you can have multiple cart abandon emails set up, this is how you tell them apart, for example Cart Abandon - All Users.
  5. Paste the Campaign ID from step 11. Add a Subject Line and Preview Text if your template uses {{ SUBJECT }} and {{ PREHEAD }}, set any targeting under Advanced Options, then save.
  6. Run Send Test Email from My Emails. This goes through our real send path and fills in every variable, so what arrives is what a live cart abandon will look like.

Note: If the test fails, check the Client ID, Client Secret and region first, then check that the Execute scope is ticked (step 5) and the campaign is Live (step 10). If a variable shows as text, check its spelling and case against the list above.
